Social media is now one of the income fields for the community. However, there is no definite record of how much tax potential can be obtained from online business.
So, how to know the potential tax of online business? According to the Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas / Head of Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro, the first attempt should be made by listing the number of online business players.
“But we first take everything at the same level of playing field, the data collection becomes very important, maybe we will ask to BPS (Statistic Central Bureau), improve the data collection mechanism by capturing online transactions, in GDP and in consumption,” said Bambang At the Bappenas Office, Jakarta, Friday.
After the data the government will easily record the potential tax from every sale and purchase transactions online, said Bambang.
“The important thing is to be recorded in the statistics, how this online activity is included in the formal sector.” Do not let this online become prolonged so informally, in these sectors there should be an affirmation of the online position, “Bambang explained.
According to Bambang, the government supports the growing e-commerce, let alone the perpetrators of most of the younger generation.
“The important thing is to record reliable statistics and indeed fit the principle of balance in competition, and also the obligation to pay taxes I see that, not how do we order online and taxing,” said the former Finance Minister.
