Five (5) Indonesian Police were killed due to attack by terrorist prisoners during the riot incident at Mako Brimob Prison, Kelapa Dua, Depok, Tuesday A (8/5/2018).
Head of Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) Police Headquarters Brigadier Pol Muhammad Iqbal said the total death toll in the incident was 6 people. This was due to a clash between terrorist prisoners and officers from Mako Brimob.
According to Iqbal, 5 people who died were members of the Police and the remaining 1 was a terrorist who was shot dead for attempting to seize a long barrel of police officers in Mako Brimob Kelapa Dua Depok.
“It is true that there have been casualties in the incident, the total number of victims was 6 people, 5 of our colleagues who died and are now taken to Kramat Jati Hospital, and the remaining 1 terrorist prisoner for fighting and taking officer weapons,” statement received to Bisnis.com, Wednesday (9/5/2018).
According to Iqbal, the Police are now trying to recover the situation at the Mako Brimob Detention Center because there are still some terrorists who tried to take hostage-taking to officers since the incident began on Tuesday night.
“So we are still negotiating to avoid any more casualties in this incident, and we pray for the community so that this situation can be overcome,” Iqbal said during a telephone interview.
However, Iqbal has not specified the data and identity of the victims of the riots.
