16 Old Mining areas Will Be Auctioned In April

JAKARTA – A total of 16 mining areas consisting of 6 Special Mining Business License (WIUPK) and 10 Mining Permits (WIUP) will be auctioned off in April 2018.

Based on data from the Ministry of ESDM, nickel mining dominates for WIUPK, ie as many as 5 regions. Another area is coal mining.

As for WIUP, as many as 5 areas are coal mining. The remainder consists of three gold mining areas, and one area respectively for iron ore and bitumen.

Head of Communications, Public Information Services, and Cooperation Bureau at the Ministry of EMR, Agung Pribadi, said that the whole area is the result of shrinking or land of contracted termination. There is no auction for new territory yet.

“All the shrinking or termination, if new, the governor is also careful because it is still a moratorium,” he said on Friday (16/3/2018).

He explained to WIUPK, will be offered by the central government in stages starting from SOEs, BUMD, to bada private business. As for WIUP, auction will be conducted by local government, in this case the governor.

For WIUPs with an area of ​​less than or equal to 500 hectares (ha), participant who may participate in the auction shall be from BUMD, local national private enterprise, cooperative, and individual consisting of individual, corporate, or firm. BUMNs and private business entities in the context of foreign investment (PMA) are not allowed to participate.

Meanwhile, for auctions with an area greater than 500 ha can be followed by SOEs, BUMDs, private national entities, private enterprises in the framework of PMA, and cooperatives.
