JAKARTA – Cloud computing company owned by Alibaba Group, Alibaba Cloud, today officially operates its first data center in Indonesia.
This data center is the first global global public cloud platform in Indonesia that provides local choice for business people in Indonesia, especially SME and startup.
Head of Asean and ANZ Alibaba Cloud Raymond Ma said it was very happy to set foot in Indonesia.
“The first time I came here 1.5 years ago and it turns out that [Indonesia] has the same vision … Today I came again and with pleasure,” he said at the inauguration of Alibaba data center in Jakarta on Thursday (15/3 / 2018).
Minister of Communications and Informatics Republic of Indonesia Rudiantara who also attended said the government welcomed the presence of Alibaba data center in Indonesia.
“Indonesia is a big market and we are open to investors, I welcome Alibaba with open arms hope this cooperation can give a good effect to help our digital economic growth,” he said.
The launch of this data center is one of the efforts to realize government initiatives in forming 1,000 startups by 2020.
In Indonesia alone there are several technology companies that have worked with Alibaba Cloud among others Tokopedia, GTech Digital Asia, Dwidaya Tour, and Ygort.
