Sanur, Bali

Sanur, Bali

Sanur is Bali's calm, easygoing side of the coast, a long stretch of eastern shoreline where life moves at a gentler pace. Reef-protected waters make the beaches shallow and safe for swimming, and a paved seafront path runs for kilometres, ideal for walking, cycling or an unhurried sunrise stroll. We find it suits families, couples, older travellers and anyone who wants Bali without the crowds and nightlife of the south.

Beyond the sand, Sanur has a strong local character. Traditional villages, quiet temples and craft workshops sit just behind the beachfront, and small cafes and warungs serve fresh seafood and classic Balinese dishes. Fishing boats leave at dawn, and boats to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan depart from the shore. Rental bikes make exploring easy. We recommend visiting between April and October, when the weather is drier and the seas are calmer, though Sanur is pleasant year-round.
