Jakarta -Grab’s online-based transport company focuses on combating fraudulent conduct of fictitious orders by its partners.
A recent survey by the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) mentions that 28% of Grab partners make fictitious orders to profit by using fake GPS.
Head of Public Affairs Grab Indonesia Tri Sukma Anreianno said this deviant behavior resulted in a lot of revenue losses from both companies, driver partners, investors, until the digital economy of Indonesia.
“I do not know exactly the exact figure, because it is still in the process, but the impact is widespread and has potential losses of up to millions of dollars,” he said on Thursday (7/6/2018).
The process involves inquiry and investigation by the police to uncover a large syndicate against this fraudulent practice. According to him, there are 10 more syndicates already in legal process.

“In terms of the total loss figure has not been issued. From some cases of large syndicates are still in the process in court, after the completion of the exact number of losses can be issued,” he said.
So far it has claimed to have anticipated the fraud could be muted, one of the efforts is to develop super-sophisticated applications and implement the campaign ‘opponent opik’ [order fictitious].
“Because this is the most serious issue that needs to be addressed, so we also have to invest there to build a system that can maintain or risk fraud like this fictitious order,” he said.
With the development of this advanced application, he continued, Grab claims can minimize the decline of cheating up to 80% of its partners.
“Last year we did and the results are surprising,” Grab said. “This case of cheating in Grab has fallen by 80% in the past 12 months,” he said.
In addition, Grab will also give appreciation to consumers or partners who report cheating or known by the term whistleblower.
Transport observer Achmad Izzul Waro said the rampant action of this fraud one of them caused by the assumption of the driver’s partner who feel confident will not be detected by the system.
Meanwhile, Program Director Indef Berly Martawardaya called the ride-hailing company the greatest responsibility to enforce a tighter security system to counter such fraudulent practices.
