Hajj 2018: Emirates Will Operate 33 Additional Flights

Jakarta -Emirates will operate additional flights to Jeddah and Madinah to help facilitate Haj pilgrims to and from Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.

Emirates will operate 33 additional flights to Jeddah and Madinah from 6 to 31 August to support Jemaah Haji travels to the Holy Land of Mecca during this year’s Hajj.

As the country with the largest Muslim majority, it is estimated that there are 1,900 pilgrims who will depart from Indonesia.

Other major markets that Emirates expects to leave Hajj are from Pakistan, Senegal, the United States, Britain, Australia, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria. This service will take place simultaneously with Emirates regular flights to Jeddah and Madinah. This additional flight service is available to holders of a valid Hajj visa.

Adil Al Ghaith, Senior Vice President of Emirates for Commercial Operations, Gulf, Middle East and Iran says the Hajj trip is an extraordinary journey for Muslims that will provide an unforgettable experience for them, and they estimate there will be as many as 25,000 Hajj pilgrims flying with Emirates this year.

With high demand for air travel during this period, Emirates provides extra flights to ensure a smooth flight for pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land of Mecca. “For
travel, we want to provide the best experience for our customers that is in line with their plan, especially during this important period, “he said.

While at the airport in Dubai, Emirates has set up a special airport team to be assigned to facilitate every passenger while on the ground for Hajj. In addition, there will also be a check-in and transfer desk specializing in Hajj pilgrims in transit in Dubai.

During the flight, several initiatives have been planned to maintain the values ​​and traditions held by Haj pilgrims. Some extra facilities will be provided to accommodate the needs of Haj pilgrims such as ablution, reminding passengers about Al Miqat and Ihram (the phase when the congregation enters a holy state) and other arrangements that will facilitate the journey of each congregation.

The ICE award-winning system will also feature special Hajj videos that discuss the security, Hajj formalities, as well as information on the implementation of Hajj. Jemaah can also display channels of Al Quran.

On flights from Jeddah, Hajj pilgrims can carry up to 5 liters of Zamzam holy water that can be placed in special areas on cargo. As with other Emirates flights, each Haj pilgrim can enjoy up to 35 kg of Emirates baggage allowance for Economy Class, 40kg for Business Class and 50kg for the Primary Class.
