Motorcycle Exports of the First Two Months in 2018 Grown by 37.2%

Jakarta – The export performance of motorcycles during the first two months of this year grew 37.2% compared to the achievement in the same period last year 55,884 units to 76,700 units.

Based on data from Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), exports of motorcycles from Indonesia are contributed by brands of Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, TVS, and Kawasaki.

Yamaha brand motorcycles are the largest export contributor of 46,273 units (60.3%), followed by Honda 15,315 (20.0%), Suzuki 8,291 units (10.8%), TVS 4,755 units (6.2%) , and Kawasaki 2,066 (2.7%).

While Kawasaki and Suzuki motorcycles are the highest-growth brands among others, 256.2% and 188.6% respectively in the first two months of this year.

Yamaha achieved a third growth of 46.1%, while motorcycle brand TVS occupy the next position with 10.4% growth. Honda’s export declined 6.9%. However, Honda remains the second largest contributor to Yamaha.

Over the past year, motorcycle exports from Indonesia grew 51.8% or beyond expectations, ie 30% -40%. One of the causes of export increase throughout 2017 is that the price of motorcycles offered from Indonesia is quite competitive.
