Personal Data Protection Law Required in Trade “E-Commerce”

Jakarta: Minister of Communications and Information Technology (Menkominfo) Rudiantara explained that the Law (Law) Protection of Personal Data is very important for the development of e-commerce in the future. He explained that Indonesia is part of few countries that do not have protection of personal data. This will make it difficult when trading with other countries that demand protection. “Importantly, this will have an economic impact because Europe does not want to cross border transactions in e-commerce with countries that do not yet have personal data protection,” he explained in a Personal Data Protection Discussion in Jakarta on Tuesday (13/3/2018). Chief RA, the familiar greeting, added that the government has drafted the draft Law on Personal Data Protection and has submitted it to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Kumham) and the House of Representatives (DPR).

However, the text has not been a priority discussion in the national legislative program (prolegnas) 2018 in the House. The timing of the completion of the discussion and the exit of the rule is still unclear. “When discussed with parliament (DPR) can not be a priority 2018. Because there are still many outstanding who have not finished discussed,” said the man who is familiarly called Chief RA it. On the other hand, Chief RA claimed to continue to encourage the realization of these rules. The hope, if later one of the five manuscripts existing in 2018 prolegnas already completed discussed, it can go directly to the discussion of the protection of personal data.
