Port Worker Supports Foreign Investor Involvement in TPK Koja

Jakarta -The union affirmed its support for the involvement of foreign investors in the extension of Koja container terminal management contracts between PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (IPC) II / IPC with Hutchison Port Indonesia (HPI).

Koja SP TPK Chairman Joko Suprajitno said Koja TPK workers are not anti foreign investors in the activities of seaport services.

“Actually, the involvement of foreign investors (Hutchison) in TPK Koja is the domain of management, but we support the management steps as long as the workers ‘welfare and workers’ normative rights do not decrease,” he said during a press conference union declaration union TPK Koja into Koja TPK Workers Union Jakarta, Tuesday (20/3/2018).

Joko said that TPK Koja’s SP also supports the achievement of import container loading and unloading productivity at TPK in 2018 by 754,000 twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs) following the strengthening of all TPK Koja docks in the second half of 2018.

The union amalgamation follows an increasingly fierce competition over import export container services in Priok port. Currently, at Tanjung Priok Port, there are five containers of import export container terminal facilities, namely Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), TPK Koja, Mustika Alam Lestari (MAL), Terminal 3 Priok and New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT-1).
