Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) will introduce Suzuki Baleno Hatchback at the 2017 Gaikindo International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition.
Harold Donnel as Head of Brand Development & Marketing Research 4W PT SIS said there are two main reasons behind the return of Baleno to the Indonesian market. Since 1996 Baleno is known as a small sedan, while the latest Baleno is a transformation of the sedan into a hatchback form.
Harold explained, the presence of Baleno at least will increase the sales volume of Suzuki by 10 percent of the hatchback market in the figure of 4,000-6,000 units based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo).
“Secondly, people’s preference for hatchbacks by Suzuki is getting higher,” continued Harold.
If seen in the period 1990 to early 2000, he continued, consumers of young executives aged 30-35 years to buy a sedan type vehicle to show the existence of self.
But in 2004-2005, interest 30-year-old people shifted from sedan to hatcback in line with product development, infrastructure, technology and various advantages offered hatchback.
“Sedans are longer than hatchbacks, hatchback maneuvers are also more dynamic. That’s what makes people’s interests change,” he said.
“On that basis, Suzuki 2016, 2017 and 2018 would focus on the segment of young people,” he continued,
Suzuki step to mengaet youth market is not only shown by the presence of Baleno and Swift that has long been paving in the country. This year Suzuki also introduced the Ignis and Suzuki SX4 S-Cross in 2016.
Harold was convinced Suzuki Baleno able to compete in the hatchback market because it has a price that is claimed to be competitive than its competitors.
