Thailand’s giant corporation CEO of SCG meets President Jokowi

JAKARTA – Siam Cement Group (SCG), a giant corporation from Thailand engaged in cement, chemicals and packaging, met President Joko Widodo at Merdeka Palace on Thursday (15/08/2018).

SCG President and CEO Roongrote Rangsiyopash said it was discussing with President Jokowi about the business and investment environment in Indonesia.

“We told the President [Jokowi] that we are happy with economic development and policy and most importantly the situation of political stability here.Of course, you know, we also talk a little about investment strategy and plan in Indonesia,” Roongrote said after meeting with Jokowi.

According to him, SCG has invested in Indonesia for several years. Roongrote said it has plans to build a second petrochemical complex.

As is known, SCG owns 30% shares of petrochemical company in Indonesia, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk. who now owns a factory in Cilegon, Banten.

“We confirm to the government that we are committed to this project and at the same time we understand the government’s desire to support investment here,” he said.

Roongrote is not willing to disclose a new investment plan in Indonesia on the grounds that the company is a company whose shares have been listed on the stock exchange.
