The reason INKA hasn’t determined the price of KAI’s train orders

JAKARTA – PT Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA is still awaiting specifications requested by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) to determine the order value of 448 train units that have not been realized.

INKA GM Corporate Secretary Puguh Dwi Tjahjono said, KAI had ordered 886 train units since October 2017. Meanwhile, the order value of 438 units of a total of 886 train units ordered by KAI reached Rp 2.33 trillion.

“There is no [order value], because the train specifications are still under discussion between us and KAI,” Puguh said on Wednesday (06/19/2019).

He added, the two parties were discussing the type and pattern of operations expected on the new train. It is expected that the discussion of these specifications can provide INKA’s opportunity to innovate and provide products with the latest services and facilities for train passengers.

Meanwhile, he continued, of the 886 units ordered, 448 train units had been shipped and operated by KAI for this year’s Lebaran Transportation period. The price of the train unit that has been shipped with what will be made will be different according to the specifications requested by KAI.

He said he ensured there were no obstacles in terms of the KAI’s train production process even though the company also received many orders from other parties. INKA has calculated production capabilities with installed production capacity.

Meanwhile, KAI’s Managing Director Edi Sukmoro said he had added capacity through ordering hundreds of new train units. Meanwhile, train bookings are made from INKA.
