This policy explains what information DailyIndonesia collects when you use our website dailyindonesia.com and the DailyIndonesia app, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We keep it short and only collect what we need to run the service.
Who we are
DailyIndonesia runs dailyindonesia.com and the DailyIndonesia app for Android and iPhone: flights, hotels, things to do, eSIMs, restaurants and live airport information for Indonesia. To reach us about privacy, email us at contact@dailyindonesia.com.
What we collect
- Browsing and searching. You do not need an account to use the website or the app. What you search for (places, dates, number of guests, airports) is used to show results and is sent to the partners that supply prices, without your name or contact details.
- Table bookings. Your name, email address, phone number, the date, time and number of guests, and any note or occasion you add. If you tick a box, you also agree to receive offers by email from the restaurant and/or from us; you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Reviews. Your name (shown with the review), your email address (never shown; used to confirm the review), your ratings, your text and the month of your visit.
- Restaurant owners. When you claim or list a restaurant: your name, email address, phone number, your role and the restaurant details you send. If you get an account, we keep your email address and a protected (hashed) password. When you sign in on the app, we keep the name of the device you signed in from and a protected sign-in token.
- Promotion payments. Restaurant owners pay for promotion through Razorpay. Card and bank details go directly to Razorpay; we only receive the payment confirmation.
- Technical information. Like every website, our hosting records your IP address and browser in server logs. To count restaurant page views fairly and to stop spam and abuse, we use a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address that cannot be turned back into the address.
- On your phone (app). The app keeps your settings on your phone: your currency, recent searches and whether you have seen the welcome screen. It reads your phone's region setting to choose a starting currency. It does not use your location, contacts, camera or advertising ID.
- App usage statistics. The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count which screens are opened and actions such as searches and taps on Book, together with the phone model, the app version and the approximate country (from the IP address). These statistics do not include your name, email or phone number, and the advertising ID is not collected.
- Notifications (app). If you allow notifications, we keep your phone's notification address (a push token) so we can send you travel deals and news, and table booking alerts if you manage a restaurant. If you follow a flight, we also keep the airport, flight number and date until the flight has landed. You can switch notifications off under Account at any time.
Cookies
The website uses a few cookies: one remembers the currency you chose for flight results, and Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) uses cookies to count visits. When you follow a link to a partner, the partner sets its own cookies on its own site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site still works without them.
How we use it
- To show search results, restaurant pages and live flight information.
- To send your booking request to the restaurant and the confirmation emails to you.
- To confirm and publish reviews, and to let restaurants reply.
- To manage restaurant listings, claims, owner accounts and promotion.
- To stop spam, fake reviews and misuse, and to keep the service running.
- To understand which pages and screens are useful (statistics).
- To send app notifications you allowed: deals and news, booking alerts for restaurant owners and alerts for flights you follow.
- To send offers by email only if you asked for them.
Who we share it with
- The restaurant you book receives your booking details so it can confirm your table.
- Our travel partners. When you choose a flight, hotel, activity or eSIM, our "Taking you to …" page sends you to the partner (for example Aviasales, Booking.com, Trip.com, Agoda, Klook, KKday, Tiqets, Airalo or Saily). You then book directly with them under their own terms and privacy policy.
- Service providers that help us run the service: our web hosting, email delivery, Google Analytics, Mapbox (maps), Razorpay (payments) Google (Analytics and Firebase), Expo (delivery of app notifications) and the data providers for prices and flight times (Travelpayouts, Scrapingdog, Tiqets and AeroDataBox). They only get what they need to do their job.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Affiliate links
Some partners pay us when you book through our links. This costs you nothing extra, and it does not change the prices or the order of results we show.
How long we keep it
Booking details are kept as long as the restaurant needs them for its reservations and records, then deleted on request. Reviews stay published until they are removed by you, the restaurant (through us) or us. Owner accounts are kept until you ask us to close them. App sign-ins expire after 180 days. Notification addresses are deleted when you switch notifications off or remove the app, and followed flights after the flight. App usage statistics are kept for at most 14 months. Server logs are kept only as long as our hosting needs them.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, to stop sending you emails, or to withdraw a consent you gave. These rights are given by Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022) and, if you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, by the GDPR. To use them, email us at contact@dailyindonesia.com. We answer within 30 days.
Security
All traffic to our website and app is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords and app sign-in tokens are stored only in protected (hashed) form, and access to booking details is limited to the restaurant concerned and to us.
Children
Our service is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. Important changes are also shown in the app.
